Admission to MBBS in India - Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is one of India's most prominent and sought- after courses. Candidates who complete an MBBS degree become competent doctors. MBBS is a difficult course to complete since students are tested at every step along the way. Candidates who aspire to be doctors should be aware of the MBBS admission procedure in India.

Who is Eligible For MBBS in India

In India, the National Medical Commission (NMC) establishes the requirements for MBBS admission. For MBBS admission, only candidates who meet the qualifying standards are considered. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To secure MBBS admission in India, candidates must have passed class 12 from a recognised board.

To pursue an MBBS course, students should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in classes 11 and 12.

For MBBS admission in India candidates must score at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination. For SC, ST, and OBC category candidates, the minimum marks required for MBBS admission are 40%.

Aspirants should have attained the minimum age of 17 years for getting admission to MBBS in India. The upper age limit for MBBS admission is 25 years.

Admission to the MBBS course is granted based on candidates’ performance in the national level entrance exam, NEET.

NEET is the only all-India medical entrance test for MBBS admission. The NTA administers the medical entrance exam, which is based on the NEET-UG syllabus, which covers topics from CBSE classes 11 and 12.

Every year, NEET cut-off scores will change.

The MBBS course fee may vary from government, private, and deemed universities. The average MBBS fee for government medical colleges in India ranges from INR 20,000 to INR 7.5 lakh, whereas the MBBS fee for private colleges can range from INR 20 lakh to more than INR 1 Cr.

State authorities will conduct admission to MBBS for the remaining 85 percent of state quota seats in government institutions and all seats in private institutes. Counseling for MBBS admissions can be done either in person or online. Candidates must register, fill out the course and college options, and have their documents verified at state MBBS admission counseling.
